September Weekend...Spring

Been an interesting weekend of sorts.

Friday - Night at the orchestra...it's a pity i didn't bring my camera again. There is this Verge Arts Festival going on and the Sydney University Symphony Orchestra had a special performace at the Quadrangle. It was quite magical cos it was kinda like right out of a scene from a Harry Potter movie. Anyway, they played compositions by some French guys back in the ninteenth century. Pretty cool. Would definitely lull me to sleep. Well, actually they did. A pair of cute sisters in the performance kept me awake though. lol..

Saturday - Philip's Birthday, EPL Upsets. We had steamboat for dinner. Bought raw seafood etc from the market earlier in the day and we got the stove ready in the evening. The barbecue sauce added spice to the occasion. Reminds me of those steamboat reunion dinners i had back home... Went down to Star City to catch the Manchester derby and saw the Arsenal game as well. Disappointing results for us. United couldn't hang on to the lead and City once again played spoilers. Arsenal didn't have Henry and just wasn't good enough on the day against a gusty Boro side.

Sunday - Soccer, Bjorn's place. Played soccer at Olympic Park with the guys again after a hiatus of a couple of weeks. Nice to get a good run out. It was more or less a five a side game. Not really flowing soccer but we have our good touches and passes here and there. Brilliant how the game is played, always with great spirit and camaraderie. And the pitch is not bad too... Went straight to a discussion meeting at Bjorn's place right after soccer. Indeed worthwhile, cos there were many meaningful ideas and views thrown around that set all of us thinking. The gakkai culture here IS very different. I am still more comfortable with speaking when i am called upon. Anyway, there is really a great bunch of people here that i've made friends with. It wouldn't be right not sharing as much as i should be with them.
